Its a brand new year and I have a brand new photography studio and I am starting to blog.
I am starting to blog to inspire fellow Photographers or Enthusiasts or just to basically give you more of an insight to me as the real person, behind this business.
What's involved in a photography business?...
WhiteBeam Photography is just me, and I would say, 75% off what I do is behind the scenes and not behind the camera, and most of the time, I am drinking coffee, whilst planning photoshoot setups, planning and organising events, setting up photoshoots, editing photos, updating social media, updating the website, publishing photos, promoting, researching, processing orders, book keeping, doing the accounts, chatting to potential clients, packaging orders, doing photo viewings, cleaning, ordering stock & props etc, filing, delivering orders, invoicing, creating forms, sending emails, printing, writing, and most of all thinking, always thinking!
When you start off with the mindset of wanting to be a Photographer, you don't think about all the other professions that you have to do too. Unless you invest in hiring the staff then great. But if not, you become a bookkeeper, a cleaner, a printer, an administrator, a designer, a packer, and more, and in my case, last year, I was a builder, decorator, and an interior designer!
So, when your looking at courses, I strongly recommend doing a business course too. 7 years out of college, and I'm sat here figuring out today that blogging is one of the top recommended things to do in business.
MAKE BLOGGING A HIGH PRIORITY
- its important to add a blog to your website because it increases your chances of being noticed, and it helps with your SEO (search engine optimisation) as you can use keywords and phrases in your blog posts. websites get crawled quite regular so its important to have new, quality content.
So that's what I've learned today and I love the New year, because you can sit back and reflect on what works, plan what you need to be doing, research what you can do as a business, and just aim to achieve what you want out of the new year, or focus on growing towards your life time goals.
If you believe you can be a Photographer. You will become the rest.
